My name is May, and I am the bundle of hope behind The Inner Workshop.
The Inner Workshop is my attempt to bridge the spaces of introspection, conversation, creativity, and personal impact through the stories, personal fictions, that can help make our inner selves a little more known - to ourselves, and the world.
About My World
I want to listen, percolate and write.
My worldview today is informed by trauma-informed approaches, self-organisational culture, mindfulness (MSBR), indigenous teachings in full consciousness. Previously, I worked in philanthropy, with roles from strategy and planning, social issues research, to fundraising. I received my Bachelors in Arts (Media and Communications) from the University of Melbourne. I live in Singapore.
My Journey
After fending a period of early-mid career fatigue, I left my jobs in the non-profit and philanthropic industry, driven by a longing for work that is a closer reflection of the world I wish to belong to. A world where people are ignited by their personal visions, and do not negotiate with the collective basics.
A big part of my personal journey has to do with gaining awareness - of the ego self, the higher self, the collective whole self, and so on.
Some people refer to this as inner work, the work of leaning inwards, the exploration of your core being, your whole self - psychologically, spiritually etc. I have found this path to be neither linear nor smooth. It can also be very solitary.
And so as I seek it myself, it has also become my desire to create moments where people feel seen and heard in this journey of becoming.
It is my humble hope that by witnessing you through my writing, I will be able to become a part of the healing powers of 'working with self' -to help with finding new ways to see, understand and accept ourselves.
